Scope

This policy covers searchengineoptimizationexpertwitness.com and nothing else. It is a static informational website: a set of pre-built pages served to your browser. There are no user accounts, no logins, no registrations, no subscriptions, no shopping cart, no payment processing, and no personalized content. Nothing on this site asks you to identify yourself in order to read it.

Other websites referenced here, including Bill Hartzer's practice site, operate under their own policies. Following a link takes you outside the scope of this one.

What the server records automatically

Like essentially every web server, the host that serves these pages writes an access log entry for each request. A log entry typically records the IP address making the request, the date and time, the URL requested, the HTTP status returned, the number of bytes served, the referring URL if your browser sent one, and the user-agent string identifying your browser and operating system.

Those logs exist for operational reasons — diagnosing errors, identifying automated traffic and abuse, and confirming that pages are being served correctly. They are not used to build a profile of any visitor, are not combined with any other data set, and are not sold, rented, or shared for marketing. They are retained on the hosting provider's ordinary schedule and then discarded.

The contact form transmits nothing to this site

This is worth stating precisely, because it is unusual and it changes the analysis. The contact form on this site is not a server-side form. Nothing you type into it is posted to this website, stored on this website, or processed by any script running on it. Completing the form composes a message in your own email application, on your own device, using your own email account — the same thing that happens when you click any mailto: link.

The practical consequences follow from that. This site never receives what you typed unless you yourself send the composed message. If you close the draft, nothing is transmitted anywhere. And once you do send it, the message travels through your own email provider and arrives as ordinary email, with the same security properties as any other email you send — which is to say, it is not an encrypted or privileged channel and should not be treated as one.

Cookies, analytics, and embedded content

This site sets no cookies of its own for tracking, advertising, personalization, or measurement. It runs no third-party analytics package, no advertising pixel, no remarketing tag, no social sharing widget that reports back to a platform, and no embedded third-party content that would allow another company to observe your visit.

There is nothing to opt out of and no consent banner, because there is no tracking to consent to. If a strictly functional cookie is ever required for the site to operate correctly, it will be limited to that purpose and this section will be updated to say so.

Information you choose to send

If you email Bill Hartzer, whether through the form or directly, the message and whatever you put in it are received and read. That material is used only to respond to the inquiry and, where relevant, to run a conflict check. It is not added to a mailing list, not sold, and not shared other than as required to respond or as required by law or legal process.

Do not send privileged material, work product, protected discovery, or documents covered by a protective order in an initial inquiry. There is no engagement at that stage, no relationship for a protection to attach to, and email is not a secure channel.

Changes to this policy

If the way this site handles visitor information changes — for example, if analytics were ever added, or a server-side form introduced — this page will be updated to describe the change before it takes effect where that is practicable, and otherwise promptly afterward.
